Comfortable and spacious, every beautifully restored room is flooded with natural light from full-height windows, while the walls are paneled in walnut and mahogany. Meetings and events at Town Hall are more than just gatherings, the atmospheric rooms and seamless organisation all add up to an exceptional venue where you can be confident that every facility is on hand.
THE BETHNAL HALL: An elegant, refined space with high ceilings, huge windows and polished wood-paneling on the walls, the Hall is made up of four interconnected rooms. Unlike many event spaces, where folding doors provide flimsy partitions, Bethnal Hall is separated by solid walls of polished wood which recess into the ceiling, using the original, reconditioned, 30s mechanism. The result is up to four completely separate, private spaces, or a large theatre or conference area to accommodate from 22 to 188 people.
THE COUNCIL CHAMBER: This stunning art-deco room was the imposing Council Chamber and retains raised seating in green leather with fold down wooden desks. Containing equipment for professional film screening, this makes a highly individual lecture or theatre style venue for up to 80 people, while its ante-chamber makes a wonderful drinks or reception area.
THE DE MONTFORT SUITE: A very special, entirely self-contained venue that impresses and delights all who use it, our signature design suite is situated in what was the main Edwardian Council room. This vast space has a triple height ceiling, enormous arched windows containing stained glass panels and plaster statues designed by the artist Henry Poole. With its own kitchen, the De Montfort Suite is often hired for private dinners.
